What is Perch
Perch is a verifiable AI coworker for legal, finance, research, and coding. It reads your files, does the work, and shows the source behind every claim.
Perch is an AI coworker built for work where a wrong answer has consequences. It reads the documents you already have, does the analysis or writing you ask for, and shows you the exact source behind every claim it makes.
Most general assistants are confident whether or not they are correct. Perch is built the other way around. The product is organized so that you can trace any answer back to the material it came from, which is the difference between a tool you can use for real work and one you have to double check by hand.
The principle
Who Perch is for
Perch is designed for people whose work is judged on accuracy and sources:
- Legal. Drafting memos and briefs where a fabricated citation can get you sanctioned.
- Finance. Auditing payments, statements, and ledgers where a missed duplicate is real money.
- Research. Writing that has to hold up against the sources it cites.
- Coding. Inspecting repositories, debugging checks, and running sandboxed code over local files.
The three surfaces
Perch is one product with three ways to use it. They share one account, one memory, and one usage allowance.
- Perch AI Web. A browser chat at chat.perchai.app. The fastest way to try Perch: upload a document, ask a question, and get a cited answer. Includes the citation checker and optional web search.
- Perch Terminal Desktop. A Mac app that works directly from your local folders. This is the full operator: it reads files, runs analysis in a sandbox, and produces source backed deliverables.
- Perch Terminal CLI. The same operator from your terminal, for people who live on the command line.
Start with the web chat to feel how Perch works, then move to the desktop app when you want it working on the real folders on your machine.

Where each surface fits
What makes Perch different
The short version is in three ideas, each of which has its own page:
Citation verificationThe core. Answers cite their source, and you can check a draft claim by claim.
RetrievalHow Perch grounds answers in your own material, not its training data.
MemoryHow Perch carries context across sessions and surfaces.
